A concrete admixture quote request is one written specification (type and standard, dose and basis, volume, packaging, delivery country, approvals) that this form passes to independent suppliers. The same form takes requests for SCMs, fibers and integral pigments, so one specification covers the four groups of concrete additives.
Suppliers reply to you directly, and no company pays for placement. In the worked example below, 350 kg/m³ (590 lb/yd³) of cementitious material dosed at 652 mL/100 kg (10 fl oz/cwt) over 20,000 m³ a year needs 44 totes of 1,041 L (275 gal). Requests are kept 24 months.
Each value is traced to its source: standards and codes to their issuing body, product values to the data sheet named with them, prices to the dated source beside them (methodology and fact-checking).

What Goes Into a Concrete Admixture Quote Request?#
A complete concrete admixture quote request states six things: the additive type and its standard class, the dose with its basis, the expected volume, the packaging and delivery region, the plant type, and the approvals and documents the job requires. A supplier prices a declared product, so each missing item becomes a question before any offer arrives.
Additive type and the standard it must meet#
Chemical admixtures are specified by ASTM C494/C494M-24 type, EN 934-2:2009+A1:2012 table or IS 9103:1999 type. Air entrainers have their own US specification, ASTM C260/C260M-24, and corrosion inhibitors have ASTM C1582/C1582M-24. A flowing-concrete high-range water reducer is requested as C494 Type F or G, since ASTM C1017 was withdrawn in 2022.
The table compares the standard to name for each additive group, with the edition and the detail the request must state.
| Additive group | Standard and edition (US / EU / India) | Class or detail to state | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chemical admixtures, US | ASTM C494/C494M-24, active | Types A to G and S (eight types) | ASTM C494 chemical admixtures |

Admixture groups and functions are listed under concrete admixtures.
Dosage basis and expected volume#
A dose means nothing to a supplier without its basis. Dose bases in use are mL/100 kg (fl oz/cwt) of cementitious material, % by mass of cement or binder (as supplied or as solids), L/m³ (gal/yd³), kg/m³ (lb/yd³), % replacement for SCMs and % by volume for fibers. The Euclid Plastol 6400 data sheet (Rev. 03.21) lists 200 to 780 mL/100 kg (3 to 12 fl oz/cwt) of cementitious material and states that trial mixes verify performance with local materials.
Volume follows from dose, cementitious content and concrete output. The worked example uses example inputs, not product data. Other units convert with the admixture dosage calculator.
The table lists the arithmetic of the worked example step by step, calculated with 1 fl oz/cwt = 65.2 mL/100 kg and 1 kg/m³ = 1.6856 lb/yd³.
| Step | Metric | US customary |
|---|---|---|
| Cementitious content | 350 kg/m³ | 590 lb/yd³ |
| Example dose (basis: cementitious material) | 652 mL/100 kg | 10 fl oz/cwt |
| Admixture per unit of concrete | 2.28 L/m³ | 0.461 gal/yd³ |
| Annual concrete | 20,000 m³ | 26,159 yd³ |
| Annual admixture | 45,640 L | 12,057 gal |
| Totes (43.8 rounded up) | 44 of 1,041 L | 44 of 275 gal |
Packaging, delivery region and plant type#
Packaging decides price, handling and storage, so the request names one delivery form. Five forms exist.
- Bulk tanker
- IBC totes of 1,000 kg (Europe) or 1,041 L (275 gal) (US)
- Drums of 208 L (55 gal)
- Pails of 18.9 L (5 gal)
- Water-soluble powder bags
Storage rules travel with the form: the Plastol 6400 data sheet gives a shelf life of 1 year unopened and says keep above freezing. The request also states the delivery country, the plant type (ready-mix, precast, contractor or distributor), any tank or dispenser loan and the minimum order, and SCMs ship by pneumatic tanker, rail or terminal.
Approvals, certification and documents to ask for#
Approvals narrow the field of eligible suppliers, so naming them avoids unusable offers. The approvals are a state DOT product list, CE marking with a declaration of performance (DoP) under AVCP 2+, a BIS licence for IS 9103 products and NSF/ANSI 61 for potable-water structures. The Illinois DOT Qualified Product List of 2026-10-09 gives each admixture with its NTPEP report number.
Six documents are worth asking for.
- Test report for the claimed type
- Certificate of analysis per lot
- Safety data sheet in the destination format
- DoP or BIS licence number
- Container marking per IS 9103 clause 10.1
- Trial-batch results with local cement, SCMs and other admixtures
The safety data sheet follows CLP in the EU and the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200, updated with effect from 2024-07-19) in the US, which reaches mixtures such as admixtures by 2027-11-19. India requests add the licence number; see BIS certification of concrete admixtures.
How Do Suppliers Show That a Quoted Product Conforms?#
Suppliers show conformity at three levels: a type test against the standard's control mix, a declaration of the product's own values with tolerances, and lot-by-lot checks against those declared values. ASTM C494/C494M-24 has Level 1 initial approval against Table 1, Level 2 limited retesting and Level 3 lot acceptance (uniformity and equivalence of solids, density and infrared),; Level 3 applies only if the purchaser specifies it.
EN 934-1:2008 Table 1 sets tolerances on the declared values: density within ± 0.03 when it exceeds 1.10 and otherwise ± 0.02, dry material 0.95 to 1.05 times the declared value at 20 % or more (otherwise 0.90 to 1.10), pH within ± 1, total chlorine and water-soluble chloride at most 0.10 % or not above the declared value, and alkali not above the declared maximum. The Mapei Dynamon NRG 1010 N DoP shows declared values under AVCP system 2+: total chlorine at most 0.10 % by mass and alkali at most 1.0 % by mass.
IS 9103 clause 10.2 requires declarations of chloride relative to cement mass at the recommended dosage, storage conditions, maximum storage time, recommended dosage and expiry date. All standards named here are listed under concrete admixture standards. The Illinois DOT asks corrosion-inhibitor suppliers for ASTM C1582 data from an AASHTO-accredited laboratory no more than 5 years old, specific gravity and residue per ASTM C494, pH per ASTM E70 and an infrared trace.
The table compares six pieces of conformity evidence by the system that sets them and what each shows.
| Evidence | System and edition | What it shows | When to ask |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 and Level 2 | ASTM C494/C494M-24 | Initial approval against Table 1; limited retesting | Every US type claim |
| Level 3 | ASTM C494/C494M-24 | Lot acceptance: uniformity and equivalence | Only if the purchaser specifies it |
| Table 1 tolerances | EN 934-1:2008 | Declared values held within tolerance | EU supply |
| DoP, AVCP 2+ | EN 934-2:2009+A1:2012 | Declared values and the table claimed | CE-marked products |
| Clauses 10.1 and 10.2 | IS 9103:1999 | Container marking and declarations | India supply |
| DOT list and submittal | Illinois DOT, list of 2026-10-09 | NTPEP report number; corrosion-inhibitor data | Public-agency jobs |
What Happens After Suppliers Receive Your Request?#
Your specification is passed to independent suppliers of the additive you name, and each supplier that can meet it replies to you directly; this site does not price, sell or choose a product. How the market is structured and how to compare makers is covered on concrete admixture manufacturers and suppliers.
How to compare the offers you receive#
Compare offers on cost per cubic meter of concrete, not price per liter. Cost per cubic meter is the dose times the admixture price times the cementitious content, so a cheap high-dose product can cost more per m³; liquid offers compare on price per kg of solids.
Approvals, dispenser loans, technical service and trial batching can be bundled into the price. Several admixture brands changed owner between 2021 and 2026, so confirm the parent group of every bidder, because three bids can come from one group.
How your request data is used#
Quote requests are kept for 24 months. Each request is stored with its source page and time. A request is deleted earlier on request, by email to editorial@concreteadditives.net or through the contact form.
Supplier Quotes, Provider Match or a Calculator: Which Tool Fits?#
A quote request fits when the additive and standard are known; a provider match fits when mix design, testing or specialty placement comes first; a calculator fits when the dose is still open. Three routes exist.
- This supplier quote request, for a named additive and standard
- A provider match for mix design and trial batching, testing laboratories or specialty placement such as shotcrete, pervious, cellular or cold-weather concrete: Your request goes to independent providers of mix design, testing or specialty placement. mix design, testing or specialty placement provider

Quote request FAQs#
What is the price of admixture?#
Admixture price comes from the quote, because it depends on dose, packaging, approvals and the service bundled into the offer. The dated public record here is a 2025 Tennessee DOT study input price (TDOT RES2024-04) of USD 3.83 per L (USD 14.50 per gal) for a high-range water reducer in ultra-high-performance concrete, prices as of April 2025.
Can powdered admixtures be quoted?#
Yes: powdered admixtures are packaged in a patented water-soluble bag (Fritz-Pak), so the request names the delivery form and bag size.
Is a PCE liquor offer the same as a Type F admixture?#
No: a PCE liquor bought by the tonne is not an ASTM C494 Type F or EN 934-2 product until it is formulated and tested. Compare liquor offers on a solids basis, and ask formulated-product offers for the type test report.
